Mithila Itihas Sansthan is an organization of professional historians  teachers, researchers, and students of History. It is dedicated to explore new dimensions and areas of studies in history as a whole and the history and culture of Mithila region in perticular. Sansthan is designed to cater to the growing interest in regional studies specially the region of Mithila and to develop general, comparative and national as well as international perspective for it. To promote interest in regional scientific, progressive and total studies in History, Mithila Itihas Sansthan organize Biennial conferences, publishes, volumes, periodicals, books and souvenirs and aimed at to held symposiums, seminars, lecture series etc. and also carry on research projects.
